Implementation Case Studies of Citrix Metaframe

At VFM, we began the Centralised Application Serving Practice in late 1999 and since then have been involved with a large number of customers and implemented their Centralised Application Serving Projects.

We have worked on a range of applications -
MS Office97, Office2000, SAP, Baan, MFGPro, Peoplesoft, Host Accerss products like PC Rally, Rhumba
etc., Custom client server Applications

Served through various connectivity media like Point to Point Lease Lines, Dial-up, Internet, VSATs

Through intervening Firewalls and Proxy Servers for a range of clients from all variants of MS platforms
DOS to WindowsXP, AIX, HP-UX, Solaris, Linux, WindowsCE, Apple MACOS etc.

We have worked on web deployment of applications through the Nfuse Web Portal and strong SSL encryption delivered through the SSL relay in Citrix Metaframe.

MICO BOSCH : Implemented a large Citrix Architecture based project for 275 licenses. There are 6 Citrix Metaframe servers all in a load balanced farm. Applications published for users include MS Office, Outlook with Exchange and Host Connectivity solution to AS 400.

Britania Industries Ltd : We have implemented their integration project of Citrix Metaframe with SAP ERP solution. This is for their users across 18 locations countrywide . A total of 200 users are on Citrix Metaframe Application Serving Architecture in the first phase of implementation. We have implemented the NFuse Application Portal for their set of dial-up extranet users who access the ERP application by dialling into the Service Provider.

EaCOE ( GE Aerospace & Tata JV) : A heterogenous platform access solution based on Citrix Metaframe for the 300 users at the site. Applications integrated include Office, MS Exchange and some custom applications. A loadbalanced farm of 2 servers running Metaframe Xpa, serve the various applications for the users.

GE Medical Systems : A heterogenous platform access solution based on Citrix Metaframe for about 150 users at the site. Applications include Office, Exchange and certain custom applications.

Texas Instruments : About 200 users in total running both Metaframe for Solaris and Metaframe for Windows. Metaframe for Windows is used to publish Windows based applications to non-windows users like Solaris. Metaframe for Solaris is used for publishing Solaris based applications to non-Solaris based platforms. A total of 4 servers in a load balance farm.

Sasken Communications : Over 200 users spread over 8 servers in various facilities. Used for Providing access to Windows Based Applications for Solaris and other Unix users. At Sasken, Citrix NFuse Web Portal technology has been implemented to web enable their inhouse MIS windows based application and the same is published on their Intranet.

Cypress Semiconductors : Over 50 users across two servers. Not Load Balanced currently. The primary implementation objective is to provide access to Windows based applications to Unix users.

Asea Brown Boveri : Implemented Citrix Metaframe for providing access to a Proposal Preparation application on Windows to users across the country. The application by itself requires a huge amount of bandwidth. By deploying the same solution with Citrix , the crunch for bandwidth across the Wide Area Network was resolved as with Citrix Metaframe Server Based Computing Architecture - the entire application executes on the server and ICA consumes very little bandwidth. A total of 5 users currently on Citrix for WAN access. We have implemented the NFuse Portal technology here and users across
the country access the windows based application through their browsers by visiting the NFuse Application Portal Page.

Kalyani Brakes : Integrated their ERP solution with Citrix Metaframe and published the same for users across various locations at Pune and Gurgaon. The main Citrix Server is located at their factory in Jalagaon. A total of 15 users currently on the Citrix server for WAN access.

Sanyo LSI Technologies : Heterogenous computing for 15 users. The Citrix solution here provides access to Windows based applications for Solaris desktops.

Easi Technologies : Heterogenous Computing Solution for 15 users. The Citrix solution here provides access to Windows based applications for SGI Irix and LInux based desktops. Intel India – A Heterogenous platform access solution for about 75 users across two servers with standard applications like Office, Project etc. served to users.
